Meat Loaf, nome d'arte di Marvin Lee Aday, alternativamente noto come Michael Lee Aday (Dallas, 27 settembre 1947), Ã¨ un cantante e attore statunitense.
Nel 2001 ha legalmente cambiato il proprio nome da Marvin a Michael. Meat Loaf Ã¨ anche il nome della band di cui Ã¨ cantante.
Nonostante alcuni inconvenienti (tra cui la bancarotta) ha raggiunto un successo notevole con la sua carriera di musicista e cantante soprattutto grazie all'album Bat Out of Hell, uno dei dischi piÃ¹ venduti della storia del rock.
Per il brano I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) tratto dall'album Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell ha ottenuto il Grammy Award per la migliore performance vocale.

Biografia
Dopo un primo album del 1971 Stoney & Meatloaf, viene chiamato per l'interpretazione del ruolo di Eddie nel film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), dove canta Hot Patootie/Bless My Soul.
Il suo secondo album Bat Out of Hell (1977), prodotto da Todd Rundgren e le cui canzoni sono state scritte da Jim Steinman ha richiesto quattro anni per essere realizzato.
L'album ha avuto un enorme successo commerciale, ha venduto infatti piÃ¹ di 43.000.000 di copie, con una media di 200.000 vendute ogni anno.
Meat Loaf ha raggiunto presto una grandissima popolaritÃ in Europa diventando una vera e propria icona del Rock, soprattutto in Gran Bretagna, dove Ã¨ classificato 23Âº come artista piÃ¹ a lungo presente nelle classifiche settimanali ed Ã¨ uno degli unici due artisti con un album che non Ã¨ mai uscito dalle classifiche. In Germania, Meat Loaf raggiunge la massima popolaritÃ dopo l'uscita di Bat Out of Hell II ed Ã¨ stato classificato al 96Âº posto nella classifica dei cento piÃ¹ grandi artisti dell'hard rock dall'emittente VH1.Apparso in oltre cinquanta tra film e spettacoli televisivi, oltre al The Rocky Horror Picture Show, ha interpretato il film Roadie - La via del rock (1980) di Alan Rudolph, ha preso parte anche al film Fight Club (1999) nel ruolo di Robert "Bob" Paulsen e nel film Tenacious D e il destino del rock (2006), nella parte del padre di Jack Black, mentre nel film Pelts, episodio diretto da Dario Argento della serie televisiva americana Masters of Horror, andato in onda negli Stati Uniti il 1Âº dicembre 2006, Ã¨ il pellicciaio Jake Feldman.
