Roberta Flack (Black Mountain, 10 febbraio 1939) è una cantante e pianista statunitense.
Biografia
Attiva nei generi jazz, soul e folk, la Flack è nota principalmente per il singolo Killing Me Softly with His Song, con il quale nel 1973 raggiunge la prima posizione nella Billboard Hot 100 per cinque settimane, vincendo il Grammy Award come miglior album del 1974, e Where Is the Love, uno dei suoi tanti duetti con Donny Hathaway.
L'album First Take con Ron Carter contenente il brano raggiungerà la prima posizione nella Billboard 200 per cinque settimane vincendo il disco di platino, la quarta in Canada con il disco d'oro e la nona posizione in Australia entrando nella Grammy Hall of Fame Award 2016.
Nel 1972 il singolo The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, che fa parte della colonna sonora di Brivido nella notte, raggiunge la prima posizione nella Billboard Hot 100 per sei settimane risultando il disco più venduto dell'anno ed in Canada per tre settimane e la sesta in Olanda. Il brano è stato premiato nel 1973 con il Grammy Award for Record of the Year e Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
Nel 1974 il singolo Feel Like Makin' Love arriva primo nella Billboard Hot 100.
Negli anni settanta ha collaborato con Bob Dylan nella Rolling Thunder Revue, i cui concerti dell'autunno 1975 furono ripresi per poi essere inseriti nel film del 1978, scritto e diretto dallo stesso Dylan, Renaldo and Clara. Nel film interpreta il ruolo di una cantante ospite ai concerti di Dylan.
